DreadTober 2020 Week 3: Dread Hot Chilli Peppers
Hi folks,
With week 3 behind us, we are now in the final stretch to the finish. For some people, that means a lot of painting over the next couple days! For others, it may be just enough time to add a bonus Dread to their pledge. Let's take a look at what everyone has been able to achieve so far. If you see something that grabs your attention, please consider checking out the blog link/account and making a connection with the hobbyist.
Name: Dave
Project: Tyranid Tyrannofex (plus weapon options)
Blog: 40kaddict.uk
Dave has been cracking on with the highlights on his Tyrranofex, which is an enormous task. He has also started work on the weapons options as well.
Name: Dave
Project: Death Guard Leviathan (Redemptor conversion)
Blog: dadhammer40k.blogspot.com and@borsil1981 on Instagram
Dave finished his projects early this year, including a deliciously gribbly Death Guard Leviathan and some Blight-Haulers.
Name: DaveM
Project: 1st Legion (Dark Angels) Leviathan Dreadnought
Blog: http://262krieg.blogspot.com/
As promised, DaveM has been working on the finer details of his Dark Angels Leviathan, including some great work on the checkers that are so characteristic of Pre-Heresy 1st Legion figures. This is going to look amazing when it is finished.
NAME: Neverness
PROJECT: Black Legion Hellbrute.
BLOG: https://nevernesshobby.blogspot.com
Neverness has been wrestling with the new Blogger interface and piecing together this boss looking Hellbrute. It looks to me like it is close to being finished; fantastic!
Name: Siph
Project: Space Marine
Leviathan Blog: https://weemen.blogspot.com/
Siph has finished his Relictors Leviathan Dreadnought, and it is a cracker. I would hate to be on the receiving end of those twin Grav-Flux Bombards!
Name: Doc
Projects: Leviathan Dread and Reaver Titan for Titanicus
Blog: www.code40k.blogspot.com
Doc has already finished his projects for this year, so here are another photo of his amazing work. Enjoy!

Jabberjabber has finished a Salamanders Contemptor Mortis and it is hot.
Name: Joe
Project: Trio of Talos (tres bien!)
Blog: joesavestheday.com
If you have read the other weekly progress reviews, you will already know what I think about these Talos. The photos speak for themselves; check out the blog for more.
Name: David
Project: 2nd Edition Imperial Fists Dreadnought
Instagram: @3dfoundry
If you were playing 40K back in the 90's this project will be sure to hit you square in the feels. The bright colours, wonderfully saturated yellows, subtle shading, chunky assault cannon, the gorgeous banner and that goblin green square base... I think I may cry.
Project: Custodes Achillus Dreadnought
Blog: http://agis40k.blogspot.com/
Agis posted a terrific Achillus Dreadnought last week, which I will feature again in the final round-up. To back up this effort, Agis has finished an Armiger Hellverin with some really cool free-hand patterns. This model is one of six in the collection, which I will also try to share with everyone when they get based.
Name: Celso Mendez (Celsork)
Project: skorpekh Lord
Instagram: @celsork
Celso has been very busy getting back into the hobby and has already knocked his project out of the ball park. Makes me want to paint some Necrons...
Name: Greggles
Project: Triarch Stalker (Probably a Doom stalker too, we'll see!)
Twitter: @3dgreg
Instagram: waaaghgreggles
Blog: feedyournerd.com
Greggles has added a new spyder to his Necron force.
Name: Cylde
Project: Eldar Wraithlords
Blog: https://mastodontica.blogspot.com/ and @cyldear on Instagram
Cylde is working on a pair of cosmic themed Eldar Wraithlords.
Name: M4cr0Dutch
Project: Imperial Knight Preceptor "Achilles" Aeternum
Blog: http://oldschoolg4m1ng.blogspot.com/ and @m4cr0dutch everywhere else
This week I have been working hard on my Imperial Knight Preceptor. I have been focusing on the external armour panels and fiddly bits, including some free-had on the shoulder armour. All of my Knights have some kind of creature displayed on their shoulder; for this knight I have painted a stylised lion. The inspiration came from this quote from Homer's The Illiad:
Achilles glared at him and answered, "Fool, prate not to me about covenants. There can be no covenants between men and lions..."
Thanks to everyone who has finished their projects already (congratulations!), or those who have been posting progress during the week. As we make our final run towards the end of the month, I will be working hard to include as many people as possible. If I have accidentally missed you, or there is something in particular you would like to bring to my attention, please leave a comment or catch up with me on social media. Good luck everyone!!

DreadTober 2020 Week 2: Red Dread Redemption
Hi folks,
Another week has gone and we are now at the half-way mark! I don't know about you, but that freaks me out just a little bit. My project is nowhere near 50% complete, but that is no cause for despair. A few solid sessions can make a huge difference in challenges like this.
Once again, it has been a joy searching through everyone's blogs and social media profiles hunting for progress. Let's take a look:
Name: Dave
Project: Tyranid Tyrannofex (plus weapon options)
Blog: 40kaddict.uk
Some solid progress on the Tyrannofex, with first highlights on the body, some basing and great detail on the head underway.
Name: Dave
Project: Death Guard Leviathan (Redemptor conversion)
Blog: dadhammer40k.blogspot.com and@borsil1981 on Instagram
It looks like this Dave has nailed this project already and is on to the bonus round with some gooey Blight -Haulers. Fantastic work!

Blog: http://warpstoneflux.blogspot.com

Blog: joesavestheday.com
These evil creations are just fantastic. Steady progress on the "normalish" figures coupled with some really evocative conversion work.
Name: David
Project: 2nd Edition Imperial Fists Dreadnought
Instagram: @3dfoundry
If this doesn't press you nostalgia button I don't know what will (or you are too young...). Bright yellow, clean and old school as heck. Square base! Oh my heart. In the next stage David will be adding more depth, but this is a brilliant start.
Name: Mike Munson
Project: Chaos Knight and Hellbrute (so far...)
You see that cheeky "so far..." up there. Yeah, well, here's another Hellbrute from Mike.
Name: M4cr0Dutch
Project: Imperial Knight Preceptor "Achilles" Aeternum
Blog: http://oldschoolg4m1ng.blogspot.com/
Me, well, I got a little distracted last week. I bought my son a Deff Dread on Ebay; it was a real rescue job. Bits broken off everywhere, horrible undercoat, glue caked on, dust like you wouldn't believe. Anyway, we have been working on it together as a father/son project and we added the last touches to the base last night. It is a Dread, so it counts I guess!
That's it for the Week 2 round-up! I'm sure you agree that there has been some fantastic progress with a lot more to come. I am monitoring the progress in 7 day chunks, with a few days extra to account for late-comers and collating time (it takes... a while...). The Week 3 round-up should be next Friday (23rd October), preparing us for the final run to the end of the month. Good luck everyone!

DreadTober 2020 Week 1: The Hunt for Dread October
Hi folks,
Week 1 is done and dusted! Thanks to everyone who has joined the challenge so far. It is great to see some old-hands returning for another season, as well as some new faces. Let's have a look at the progress people have been able to make and share some pledges. If you see a project that you like, please take the time to visit the blog or the account and make a connection. There are some fantastic WIP photos and articles being published that are well worth some extra time checking out.
Name: Dave
Project: Tyranid Tyrannofex (plus weapon options)
Blog: 40kaddict.uk
Dave's Nids are eye-popping 40K jelly candy. I'm look forward to this one.
Name: Dave
Project: Death Guard Leviathan (Redemptor conversion)
Blog: dadhammer40k.blogspot.com and@borsil1981 on Instagram
No progress yet, but here is a taster from Dave's Instagram account (his Death Guard look awesome!):
Name: DaveM
Project: 1st Legion (Dark Angels) Leviathan Dreadnought
Blog: http://262krieg.blogspot.com/
DaveM has some really fine modelling skills and a fantastic 40k collection. This is his 5th year of DreadTober, which means he should get a badge...
NAME: Neverness
PROJECT: Black Legion Hellbrute.
BLOG: https://nevernesshobby.blogspot.com
How's that for an unintentionally creepy-as-hell progress shot...
Name: Floyd Lawton
Project: Red Corsairs Hellbrute
Blog: https://1stlegionchronicles.blogspot.com/
Floyd and I share a great love of old school miniatures and are currently working alongside each other in the 2nd Edition Army Challenge. We are knee deep in deadlines at the moment! He has made some great progress already.
Name: Siph
Project: Space Marine Leviathan
Blog: https://weemen.blogspot.com/
Siph is another 5 year veteran with an amazing repertoire of hobby skills. This Dread is going to be packed full, FULL, of dakka. I'm thinking it will be a Relictors Dread, to add to his already impressive collection of stompy bots.
Name: Doc
Projects: Leviathan Dread and Reaver Titan for Titanicus
Blog: www.code40k.blogspot.com
A stalwart of the hobby, Doc has already finished one pledge for DreadTober. The second looks like it will be a slower burn. The work you have seen here is just the underlying surface that will be visible after weathering, a technique I am also using (that takes me ages).
Name: James
Project: Flesh Tearers Redemptor
Instagram: @40k_take_two
No progress yet. Check out James' Instagram account for some wicked Flesh Tearer Primaris projects.
Name: Greggles
Project: Triarch Stalker (Probably a Doom stalker too, we'll see!)
Twitter: @3dgreg
Instagram: waaaghgreggles

The founder of DreadTober! Greggle's Orks, particularly his Dreads, are legendary. I usually catch him on Twitter, but he's active just about everywhere (and everywhere is better with Greggles!). No progress yet, so here is a taster:

Awesome, awesome, awesome Space Wolves and Adeptus Mechanicum. I can't wait to see this Redemptor. No progress yet, but these should give you an idea of what we will be seeing.
Name: Poivron
Project: Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought (only as a canvas)

No progress yet, but I am looking forward to seeing this project; it sounds unique. Here is a pic from Poivron's Instagram gallery:
Name: jabberjabber
Project: Contemptor Mortis for Shattered Legions (Salamanders)
Blog: http://warpstoneflux.blogspot.com
A go-to for all things Horus Heresy, it is no surprise that we will be seeing a provocative 30K project. Salamanders out for revenge with twin multimeltas... hell yeah.
Name: Joe
Project: Trio of Talos (tres bien!)
Blog: joesavestheday.com
Joe's Drukhari creations are wicked; here is some impressive early progress. I suggest you check out the blog for more progress shots.
Name: David
Project: 2nd Edition Imperial Fists Dreadnought
Instagram: @3dfoundry
David is a prolific painter of a diverse range of models. His technique is beautiful and his taste for old school miniatures, well... let's just say he is a man after my own heart. No progress yet, but here is a glimpse of something stompy that is also kind-of yellow. I imagine his Dreadnought will be crisp, clean, bright yellow, as any 2nd Edition Imperial Fist should be!
Name: Brian
Project: Crimson Fists Siege Dreadnought
Instagram: @evilspaceelves
No progress yet, but here is a picture of Brian's previous Dread project, a Crimson Fists Contemptor, it is a beauty:
Name: Agis
Project: Custodes Achillus Dreadnought
Blog: http://agis40k.blogspot.com/
Like us all, Agis has a bunch of things on the To-Do list! Here is an embryonic dreadnought; you've got to clean your resin folks!
Over on the MeWe Warhammer 40000 group we have quite a few folks joining the challenge. Feel free to join (I am an admin there) and get to know everyone. Here is some progress from them:
Name: Mike Munson
Project: Chaos Knight and Hellbrute (so far...)
Name: TheFallen Star
Project: Space Marine Redemptor Dreadnought
Name: M4cr0Dutch
Project: Imperial Knight Preceptor "Achilles" Aeternum
Blog: http://oldschoolg4m1ng.blogspot.com/
I guess that leaves me. Here are the first complete pieces of my project. 2 down, 18 to go... (and some of those are... quite large).
If I happened to miss you, or you didn't quite meet my Friday-night-watching-Bad-Boys-3-in-Sydney deadline, leave a comment below and I will do a little catch up post on Wednesday. If you would like to join the challenge, just leave me a name, project and blog link/social media account.
